In 2011 over 21,000 people were treated with injuries resulting from fireworks. Improper use and accidents can cause long-term damage because of the high temperatures which can quickly set clothing or debris on fire. Chronic pain can be the result of these injuries, even after everything has healed. This 4th of July, be sure to keep yourself and your family safe by following our tips.

-Store fireworks in cool, dry places
-Have a container of water or a hose nearby in case of emergency and to soak the used fireworks once done
-Do not attempt to light fireworks in any kind of container
-Keep children away from fireworks
-Do not allow horseplay or running near fireworks
-Only ignite fireworks in clear areas, away from debris and people
-If a firework malfunctions, do not attempt to try to relight it, instead pour water on it and throw it away
-Follow any directions on the packaging of the fireworks
-Do not handle fireworks while under the influence of alcohol or any mind altering substance
-If injured, get medical attention right away
